Last Spring, the Cousin Ambassadors (aka my creative sisters) were given an assignment for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores. Many times when we get assignments like this we can't share them because the store needs to see them and be able to use them in their advertising and promotions first.
The theme I was to create around was "Winter." I'm giggling about that now as I type this because I'm sitting in my office in Clearwater, FL. It's 81* outside and still getting hotter... so talking about Winter is truly ironic.
Alas, there are parts of winter living in Wisconsin for 35 years taught me to appreciate. There's much beauty created in the first snow or in the frost. I love the hoar frost on the trees when the fog freezes to the limbs... I just didn't much enjoy the fact it lasts for 4+ months.
I just got the piece back and I'm really excited to share it with you... and to wear it because, what a coincidence.... it happens to be just my size! ;)
Wouldn't this be perfect for bridal jewelry?? Or to pop that vintage glam look??
This bracelet used 6mm round mirror beads and 6mm pearls from Cousin. I used a multi-strand clasp with hook and extender chain to be able to give it versatility. This piece was a whole lot of making links and connecting those links, but the finished bracelet is awesome! And of course, I made earrings to match!
If you'd like to make this great bracelet and earring set, you can pick up all the materials at Jo-Ann Fabric & Craft stores! And I have the instructions all written up! Message me via my Facebook Page - Bella Amore Legacy Jewelry and I'd be happy to email them to you!

The First Snow - Entry for Etsy Bead Embroidy Guild December Challenge
| Winter Wonderland Etsy Bead Embroidery Guild Challenge |
To me, winter speaks of simplicity, elegance and a monotone color palette. There are shades of silver and white dancing in snowflakes and sticking to tree branches. But when you look at a landscape as a whole, it's blends together in a monochromatic picture.
I created a necklace that offers the same simple elegance! I call this bead embroidered necklace "The First Snow." The pendant features a sparkly Swarovski flat-back crystal. It's sparkle is completely reminscent of the "diamonds" that sparkle on the first snow of the season. You know when you first look out the window before the dogs go out or the kids tromp through the beautiful, fluffy white snowy carpet. Those little snowflakes that capture the light and sparkle like diamonds.

I kept the necklace simple to really allow the pendant to be the star of the show. Classic pearls and fire-polished crystals bring in the hues of white and silver with that touch of sparkle. I hope you can see my interpretation of a Winter Wonderland. This piece was custom designed for a Christmas gift and the recipient was delighted to have such a special creation.

Black Tie Affair - part deux or dos or 2
Whichever your language... late last week I blogged about Nicole's BeadBacking which is my base of choice for bead embroidery. You can read why back here. And since we're on the topic, this is a sneak peak of a design I've be working on made with N.B.B.s purple shade... which is COMPLETELY wonderful. More on that (because it'll be finished with JulsBeads you are going to LOVE!) Seriously!
In the mean time, I want to share with you the compliment to the Black Tie Affair Necklace I shared with you in the NBB review post. Using shades of black, pewter, silver and finally a creamy white, I've created a pearl bracelet that is the perfect accompaniment! Hence, calling it Black Tie Affair Part 2! Using Delica Seed Beads, Fire-Polished Czech glass rounds, and glass pearls, this bracelet was born. I finished it on a 20 ga. full-hard wire with a wire wrap so it wears stiff like a bangle bracelet. I love it! More to come with this pearl netted style. Wouldn't it be the perfect rope to display a bead embroidery pendant... maybe, just maybe? :)
Hope your day is full of sunshine! I've baked cookies (rhubarb coconut w/ a cream cheese frosting - sorry about the drool), I've blogged, I've gotten laundry done and now I'm off to bead!
Have a fantastic afternoon!
{Hugs!}
But more on this next time...

Of Pearl Bridal Jewelry and Lightening
Sometimes inspiration strikes at very odd times... like in the middle of the night. BUT it usually ends up being a great design.
This was the case with this pearl necklace. I made the turquoise and copper pearl bracelet using 6mm pearls a while back and "filled" my beaded netting. I experimented using different size pearls to create a beaded bead. And voila... it work out! YEAH!
So what do I do with a beaded bead... well I make another one of course. Because if one is good, two is better.
Then both beads sit side by side on my beading mat until I was struck with inspiration lightening again. Which I was (side note: that's why my hair is curly). So I finished this piece with a double strand of pearls in the front with the largest centering the strands and graduating to smaller pearls at the edges.
I finished the necklace with single strands of pearls and a toggle clasp. Perfect for the classic romantic bride. If you are a bride and this is your dream necklace e-mail me designsbydawnmd@gmail.com. It is for sale and I'd be happy to make matching earrings. Pearl Bridal Jewelry is a classic design, by adding crystals or beaded beads it's the perfect blend of traditional with contemporary.
Hope your day is filled with love!

Purple-licious LOVE and a Book Giveaway
I just LOVE purple... really, any shade of purple... light, dark, rich or flirty... I love 'em all! So imagine my pure delight when my good friend Kathy asked me to design a custom set for an upcoming convention she's attending. It's an all woman convention so I unleashed my ferocious purple power and viola! (Side Note: I also love autumn, thus the theme of my jewelry models lately... please pardon the stem) ;)
I also wanted to share with you an Awesome Giveaway! One of my good blogger friends Lori Anderson was just published in a new book, Making Elegant Jewelry. To celebrate the release of the book, Lori's giving away a copy on her blog over at The Hive! http://creatingthehive.com/blog-post/25922/beading-book-giveaway-making-elegant-jewelry
I would LOVE to win her book, but I'd be happy for you if you did too... honestly I would, right after I cried in my cup of coffee... but I'd get over it, someday. ;) To enter Lori's giveaway, click here to go to her blog post. Take a look at the gorgeous necklace she made for the book and leave her a comment! Good luck to you (and me too, but more to you)!
Have a terrific week! {Hugs!}

Wedding Jewelry Makes Me Happy!
If I haven't told you lately, I just LOVE being able to design wedding jewelry. Brides are a very special class of ladies... and their glow is unmistakable. I've been commissioned to design a special set of jewelry for a local bride that was referred to me from a good personal friend. In meeting with this bride, it turns out we have other mutual friends that we didn't even realize we knew. It's a very small world out there.
So today, I scheduled an appointment to meet with this special bride to show her the custom designed wedding set I created just for her. Because each piece is born of pure love from my heart, getting the brides reaction is so, so special. Today's reaction was worth it's weight in gold - and then some! She just adored the jewelry and even more than that, she couldn't wait to show her bridesmaids and her mom. I love, LOVE knowing she's going to take "me" home to meet her mama. tee hee ;)
I've seen her dress in a photo from when she was trying it on, so I know she's going to be a beautiful bride. I just feel so grateful that I got to add a little extra sparkle to her special day!
From my heart to yours... big, BIG hugs!
