Carnival - All Sorts of Fun in a Bead Embroidery Masterpiece

Am I the only one that finds doing what one shouldn't be doing rather than focusing on the task that's really important to finish really fun and slightly naughty??  Okay, I've always been a procrastinator and I've always said I do my best work under pressure (insert Queen & David Bowie humming lyrics here.)

So why would it be any different for packing and moving my studio, right?

That's what I thought!  So rather than trying to pack and move all my itty bitty treasures in my studio, I found this wonderful lampwork treasure from my friend Juli ( StudioJuls if you're new to my blog, or you've been hiding under a rock).  The swirly iridescent spiral on that focal just mesmerized me... so much so I forgot (wink, wink) that I should be packing.

Instead I pulled out all my purples and greens and just lost all track of time (days, weeks even) but the end result is total worth it.  SO in lieu of throwing caution to the wind and pushing all packing aside allow me to introduce you to Carnival!  A splash of fun in every bead!

Available in my Etsy Store:

Thanks all for taking the mind wandering journey with me!  And now back to your regularily scheduled program.

FYI, if you'd like to try your hand a bead embroidery, THIS is STILL the best book I've found to help you get started.  Why?  Because it shows you two different methods and allows you to create your own style, stitches and method by blending the two!

Very beautiful artpiece.I love the beading embroidery more and more. The colors are fantastic and in its unique 'irregularity' I can find lots of harmony.

Totally exquisite! I just don't know how you beadweavers or bead stitchers or what is the preferred term? - how you do it! Those beads would be the death of me. I have loads of seed beads but they only act as extras in the film version, blending into the background and making the star look good. But you know how to give those extras top billing! Love it. You and Julsbeads are a match made in heaven!
Enjoy the day (do like I did when I moved, just opened up a box and shoved it all. Still finding treasures three years later! ;-)

Your Carnival necklace is gorgeous. One day I hope to be able to create a bead embroidered piece as beautiful as this one.

I love that naughty feeling! I tend to enjoy things the most when I'm supposed to be doing... other things. :)

Beautiful necklace! Also, I did enjoy that bead embroidery book. It's not often that we get two perspectives in one book. I'm a fan of Beading With Cabochons, too -- I like the amount of hand-holding she offers.

I'm obsessed with bead embroidery right now too - whippin' 'em out like there's no tomorrow.
Another NEW, GREAT book for bead embroidery techniques is Jamie Cloud Eakin's Dimensional Bead Embroidery. I thought I was a master til I read this book...lots of cool things.
Love the necklace. Hope it's an Etsy hit!
